Denomination of origin Sierra de Segura
The Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Sierra de Segura is the certifying body that attests the origin and the atributes of quality identified with the symbol of the squirrel, a little animal characteristic of our region.
This historical designation goes back to 1979, when the Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Sierra de Segura was provisionally constituted. In 1993, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture with the Orden del 4 de noviembre (Spanish legislation) recognised and created definitively the binding Rules to safeguard and protect the quality of the olive oils produced in this olive-producing area. Finally, in 1996, the European Union confered this olive oil the maximum protection for a European foodstuff, the sign of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
Traceability and Confidence
In addition to the recognition by the Denomination of Origin Sierra de Segura, Olivar de Segura has its own laboratory where it realizes all physicochemical analysis. It also carries out all controls established in its quality manual, ensuring the traceability of the oil, as well as the compliance with the strictest food safety requirements.
We get the control and requeriment of the European Regulation on Organic Farming, the certification IFS and BRC of Food safety, the certification ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 22005, the certification Kosher and member of Qvextra International and we use the SIQEV International Label.
